Job Details

Our client is looking for an experienced Law & Motion Partner to lead the firm's motion practice in complex civil litigation matters. This attorney will serve as a strategic legal advisor to the firm's litigation teams, handling sophisticated legal research, drafting, and argument of dispositive and procedural motions while collaborating closely with trial attorneys throughout all phases of litigation. The ideal candidate is an exceptional legal writer and strategist with extensive experience in California state and federal courts, a deep understanding of civil procedure, and a proven ability to develop winning legal arguments in high-exposure litigation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of law and motion practice for complex civil litigation matters.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including Motions for Summary Judgment/Summary Adjudication, Demurrers, Motions to Strike, and Post-trial motions.
  • Develop case strategy in collaboration with trial partners and litigation teams.
  • Conduct sophisticated legal research involving complex procedural and substantive legal issues.
  • Prepare appellate-quality briefs and persuasive legal memoranda.
  • Review and edit briefs prepared by associates and senior attorneys.
  • Assist with appellate strategy and preservation of legal issues for appeal.

Qualifications
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the California State Bar.
  • 10+ years of California civil litigation experience.
  • Significant experience handling complex law and motion practice.
  • Demonstrated success arguing dispositive motions in California state and federal courts.
  • Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Preferred experience in complex business litigation, professional liability, and/or catastrophic injury or insurance defense.
