You'll support mechanical equipment installation on a large-scale data center construction project in Manassas, establishing and verifying equipment locations, elevations, and installation points to ensure accurate placement according to construction drawings. This contract role offers solid pay, per diem when travelling, and the chance to work on cutting-edge infrastructure.

Your role

• Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and equipment layout plans.
• Establish and verify equipment locations, centerlines, elevations, and reference points.
• Perform field measurements to ensure accurate placement of mechanical equipment and structural components.
• Operate laser levels, measuring equipment, and surveying/layout tools.
• Mark anchor bolt locations, equipment footprints, and installation points.
• Verify alignment, spacing, and elevations before and during installation.
• Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, and installation crews to resolve layout discrepancies and identify conflicts between drawings and actual field conditions.
• Maintain accurate layout measurements and field documentation.

What you'll need

• 2+ years of experience in construction layout, surveying, mechanical installation, or industrial construction.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and blueprints.
• Experience using laser levels, measuring tools, and layout equipment.
• Strong understanding of measurements, elevations, alignment, and construction tolerances.

Helpful, but not required

• Mechanical equipment installation experience.
• Total station or robotic layout equipment operation.
• Data center construction experience.
• Structural steel installation knowledge.

You'll report to the Construction Superintendent or Mechanical Foreman and work on-site alongside mechanical assembly crews, riggers, and field supervisors.
