Job Title: Lead Aftercare AssociateLocation: Phillips Brooks School, Menlo Park, CAProgram: K–5 Aftercare Program (Children Ages 5–11)Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12:30–5:30 PMCompensation: $25–$35/hr, based on experience and qualificationsPosition Overview:Phillips Brooks School is seeking a proactive and nurturing Lead Aftercare Associate to join our K–5 aftercare team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children and is considering a future in classroom teaching or already has teaching experience. The ideal candidate brings a growth mindset, takes initiative in their work, and thrives in a collaborative, child-centered environment.Key Responsibilities: Engage with children in a safe, caring, and developmentally appropriate environment Support the lead aftercare staff with supervision, activity facilitation, and snack distribution Take initiative in setting up and leading games, projects, or creative activities Walk students to the health office and communicate with school staff as needed Support conflict resolution and help guide children through problem-solving Ensure safety and uphold positive behavioral expectations Foster independence by assisting children with clean-up and age-appropriate responsibilities Contribute ideas for improving the aftercare experience and program structureQualifications: Minimum Bachelor's Degree from a four-year accredited college Experience working with children (camp, aftercare, classroom, tutoring, etc.) Enthusiastic about learning and contributing to a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Interest in or experience with teaching or child development Self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic, supportive environmentWhat We Offer: Hands-on mentorship and support from lead staff and site supervisor Onboarding and in-house professional development to build your skills and confidence Opportunities for growth within our program or toward a classroom teaching path A warm, inclusive workplace that puts children first
