    JOB SUMMARY

    The Lead Bartender is responsible for supporting the various bars at The Barnett Hotel (Lobby, Rooftop Pool, Good Measures Music Hall) and ensuring they have everything to operate. Supports the team and GM before, during and after service, while assisting management with the continued positive growth of the business. Assists with inventory, stocking, and managing shifts to maintain a successful operation. Is comfortable being a leader behind the bar and is knowledgeable about cocktails and day to day bar operations.

    JOB DUTIES

    • Close and open business unit consistent with management requirements
    • Assist Food and Beverage Management with duties, including but not limited to: menu creation and development, ordering and inventory, SOP creation, service standard implementation, staff education and training, service training, cash handling, daily reporting and communication.
    • Assist management in guest issue resolution
    • Greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness.
    • Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
    • Demonstrate teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed.
    • Handle difficult situations effectively, looking for resolutions that protect 
    • Complete opening and closing duties including juicing fruit, preparing garnishes, sweeping and mopping all work areas.
    • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the hotel’s standard drink recipes.
    • Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system.
    • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable), while following all cash and credit card handling procedures.
    • Set up, clean & clear bar/tables, and breakdown throughout the shift. Maintain clean and safe work areas at all times in all working areas.
    • Present drink menus, make specific recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages.  Must be able to understand and communicate knowledge regarding all menu items.
    • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to bar supervisor.
    • Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies. 
    • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
    • Attend work on time as scheduled.
    • Follow hotel grooming and dress standards.
    • Minimize safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures.
    • Report to Food & Beverage supervisor or manager before ending work shift
    • Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
    • Must have or be able to acquire a valid Indiana Beverage Server License
    • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and some holidays. 
    • Must work well with or without direct supervision.  
    • Minimum 2 years bartending experience required
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
    • Positive interpersonal skills required.
    • Must be able to stand for duration of shift and lift 20 lbs.
