    Description

     Job Description:

    We're seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Machine Operator Lead. This is a dual-role opportunity for a hands-on machinist who also brings leadership skills to guide a team on the shop floor. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • CNC Machining: Set up and operate 3-axis CNC mills and lathes to machine precision parts. Must have experience with conversational programming and running Hurco machines.
    • Advanced Setup: Capable of operating 4- or 5-axis machines and using MasterCAM to support part programming and setup.
    • Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, work orders, and specifications to determine machining sequences and tolerances.
    • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure products meet strict quality standards and tolerances.
    • Machine Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance, identify mechanical issues, and ensure machines run at optimal efficiency.
    • Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to streamline workflows, reduce cycle times, and increase productivity.
    • Working Lead Responsibilities: Act as a bridge between the production floor and management, support scheduling, prioritize tasks, and provide mentorship to junior machinists.
    • Team Leadership: Motivate and guide a small team to meet daily production goals while maintaining safety, quality, and process standards.

    Qualifications

    Experience:

    • 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication.
    • Experience operating and programming Hurco CNC machines.
    • Strong knowledge of MasterCAM and multi-axis machining.

    Technical Skills:

    • Ability to perform precise setups and make real-time adjustments for quality and efficiency.
    • Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
    • Strong math and problem-solving skills; ability to perform basic arithmetic and calculate measurements.

    Leadership Qualities:

    • Ability to manage workflow, mentor operators, and maintain clear communication across teams.
    • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a leadership capacity.

    Training

    • Compliance Training: Must be AS9100, ISO9000, and ITAR trained, with a solid understanding of quality standards, documentation control, and export compliance procedures.
