The Auburn Municipal Court is looking for a Lead Court Clerk to add to the team! This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in the reopening of Auburn Municipal Court. By applying for this position you will have a chance to grow professionally, problem solve, provide meaningful public services and provide stability and purpose to the court users and stakeholders.
This position performs advanced, technical court work and lead-worker responsibilities in support of the Auburn Municipal Court. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving as a primary technical resource to Court Clerks by providing day-to-day work direction, training, mentoring, workflow coordination, and guidance regarding court procedures and operating standards; and assisting Court management with documenting and maintaining procedures, implementing operational changes, resolving complex technical issues, and coordinating special projects or programs. The position performs the full range of Court Clerk duties as operational needs require. The Lead Court Clerk is a lead-worker classification and does not exercise formal supervisory authority, including hiring, discipline, performance evaluation, or other supervisory personnel actions.
IMPORTANT RECRUITMENT INFORMATION: The City of Auburn is conducting this recruitment to establish a qualified hiring pool in anticipation of City Council consideration and approval of funding for this position as part of the City's budget process in September 2026.
Candidates may participate in the recruitment, interview, and selection process prior to final budget approval; however, no appointment or offer of employment will be made unless and until the position and associated funding receive all required City approvals.
The resulting eligibility/hiring pool may be used to fill this position following approval and may also be used to fill similar vacancies, as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Washington state drivers license without pending risk of loss at time of appointment.
Municipal or district court experience and experience using Washington State court information systems are highly desirable.
NOTE: This position will be required to be fingerprinted and complete the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Certification Test to be allowed to view sensitive information and have unescorted access while at the Police Department (per Washington State Patrol ACCESS unit).
