Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Data Architect to design and lead modernization of enterprise database platforms in AWS. The ideal candidate will have strong architectural expertise in PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, large-scale database migration, high availability, data integration, and cloud security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define target-state data architectures and database modernization strategies.
  • Design and optimize Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and AWS-hosted PostgreSQL environments.
  • Lead database assessment, schema conversion, migration planning, and execution.
  • Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
  • Design data integration pipelines leveraging AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and related services.
  • Implement data availability, backup, disaster recovery, and performance architecture.
  • Establish data security, governance, resilience, and architecture standards.
  • Resolve complex database integration and migration challenges.
  • Guide engineering teams and provide architecture documentation and technical leadership.
  • Work with federal stakeholders to ensure regulatory and security alignment.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • 10+ years of database engineering or architecture experience.
  • 5+ years in senior architecture or technical leadership positions.
  • Deep expertise in PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS DMS and AWS SCT.
  • Strong understanding of AWS Glue, S3, and database integration workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise-scale database migrations.
  • Data modeling, schema design, performance tuning, and high availability experience.
  • Familiarity with FISMA and NIST compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration experience.
  • AWS architecture certifications.
  • Experience modernizing federal financial or regulatory platforms.
  • Experience with data governance and operational resilience.
