The Lead Electrical Systems Engineer position exists to drive the complete hardware and electrical lifecycle for customized automation projects. This role directly impacts the organizations ability to deliver high-performance robotic and motion control equipment by rapidly transforming conceptual designs into fully functional physical systems. By bridging the gap between theoretical engineering and practical application, this position plays a critical role in accelerating production timelines, ensuring machine reliability, and driving continuous innovation for the company's manufacturing partners.

Summary

As the primary technical authority on electrical systems, the Lead Engineer focuses on the end-to-end design, physical assembly, and programming of industrial hardware architectures. The primary focus is on developing robust power systems, integrating motion hardware, and writing automation logic for custom machinery. A successful candidate in this role is a highly hands-on, execution-oriented problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced setting and seamlessly transitions from designing PCBs at a desk to commissioning multi-axis motion systems on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design complete industrial power distribution (24 VDC to 480 VAC) and machine safety architectures (STO/SS1, E-stops).

• Assemble, wire, and debug industrial control cabinets, successfully integrating servo drives, HMIs, and welding power supplies.

• Commission and synchronize multi-axis motion hardware, including servos and steppers, for advanced robotic applications.

• Program PLC-based machine logic using Structured Text and develop Python software tools for diagnostics and data logging.

• Design and validate multilayer PCBs and embedded electronics for sensor interfaces and motor control systems.

• Troubleshoot energized industrial equipment on the shop floor and optimize machine performance through rapid iteration.

• Collaborate directly with cross-functional engineering teams, assembly personnel, and customers to ensure rapid prototype-to-production deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.

• 5+ years of proven experience in industrial electrical design, full-cycle system architecture, and hardware integration.

• Proficiency in programming PLCs using Structured Text, alongside hands-on experience with Python and ROS/ROS2 integration.

• Demonstrated expertise in high-voltage industrial power systems, embedded diagnostics, and multilayer PCB CAD design.

• Direct industry experience building and troubleshooting automated machinery, robotic platforms, or welding automation equipment.

• Working knowledge of UL508A and IEC/NFPA industrial electrical safety standards.

• Ability to commit to 40-50% domestic travel initially for customer support, machine commissioning, and factory acceptance testing (FAT), with travel expected to decrease as the internal team scales.
