Lead Engineer Interconnection

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Lead Engineer Interconnection job in Rochester, NY. This DIRECT hire job is available with one of our key customers in the public utilities industry. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing complex DER and new customer interconnections to the electric distribution system and leading distribution planning studies. In order to be successful in this position, you must have a BSEE, seven plus years of relevant experience, and advanced knowledge of electric distribution power systems and planning. Preference will be given to someone with an advanced degree or PE license and experience leading and mentoring engineers.

Lead Engineer Interconnection Job responsibilities:

• Analyze complex DER and new customer interconnections at multiple voltage levels, and document results in reports and presentations.
• Develop distribution system power flow models in CYME to study generation and storage interconnections.
• Review planning and engineering work of peer engineers and consultants.
• Apply distribution planning criteria, IEEE, ANSI, and DER interconnection standards using CYME, PSS/E, SYNERGY, and ASPEN.
• Lead and mentor team members and represent the company on internal and industry committees.
• Communicate analyses and action plans to internal and external stakeholders and assist during storm restoration.

Qualifications:

• Seven plus years of relevant experience
• BSEE degree
• Advanced knowledge of electric distribution power systems and planning
• Proficiency with CYME, PSS/E, SYNERGY, or ASPEN, plus GIS (ArcFM) and SAP
• Knowledge of power flow, short circuit, voltage, contingency, and reliability studies
• Knowledge of NERC, NPCC, ISO, and PUC regulatory requirements
• Advanced degree or PE license preferred

This direct hire Lead Engineer Interconnection job is based in Rochester, NY. The annual salary for this role ranges from $110,000 - $145,000.
