Lead Engineer Protection and Control

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Lead Engineer Protection and Control job in Binghamton, NY. This DIRECT hire job is available with one of our key customers in the public utilities industry. In this role, you will be responsible for owning the electric system Protection and Control scope of greenfield and brownfield substation projects, working alongside project managers, construction managers, and civil and electrical engineers. In order to be successful in this position, you must have a BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology and seven plus years of protection engineering experience. Preference will be given to someone with a PE license, a Master's degree, and expertise in complex protection coordination analysis.

Lead Engineer Protection and Control Job responsibilities:

• Define Protection and Control requirements and develop relay one-lines, integration one-lines, communication diagrams, System Protection Requirements documents, and Detailed Design RFPs.
• Review and approve detailed designs from external engineering firms for compliance with IEEE, IEC, NESC, FERC, NERC, NPCC, NYISO, and NY PSC standards.
• Create Protection and Control bills of material and support equipment procurement.
• Guide design, estimating, settings, testing, and commissioning of transmission and substation protection systems.
• Oversee engineering studies and fault event analysis, reporting corrective actions and lessons learned to management.
• Evaluate new technologies and mentor engineers and contractors on standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Seven plus years of protection engineering or related experience
• BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
• Expert knowledge of power system protection standards and compliance requirements
• Ability to review and approve engineering work by others
• PE license and Master's degree preferred
• Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills

This direct hire Lead Engineer Protection and Control job is based onsite in Binghamton, NY. The annual salary for this role ranges from $120,000 - $145,800.
