Position Summary

COMPANY is seeking an experienced Lead Engineering Technician to support complex power and nuclear infrastructure projects within our engineering and design team. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to the development of critical infrastructure supporting today's and tomorrow's energy needs.

The Lead Engineering Technician serves as a technical design specialist and project leader responsible for developing high-quality 2D and 3D engineering deliverables. This position requires extensive experience with electrical design and drafting, advanced proficiency in Bentley design software, and the ability to lead design efforts while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve in a lead technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisory capacity.
• 
  
• Apply advanced technical expertise to solve complex electrical design and drafting challenges.
• 
  
• Create, modify, and maintain engineering drawings, models, and project deliverables using Bentley MicroStation and related design tools.
• 
  
• Establish, communicate, and enforce design and graphic standards.
• 
  
• Review project requirements to ensure proper formats, deliverables, and documentation standards.
• 
  
• Verify design inputs for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
• 
  
• Coordinate and ensure timely issuance of design deliverables in accordance with quality assurance procedures.
• 
  
• Apply sound engineering principles and established design practices in the development of project deliverables.
• 
  
• Exercise independent judgment and provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, and technicians.
• 
  
• Monitor project production activities to ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
• 
  
• Establish drawing control procedures and maintain project records.
• 
  
• Lead or assist in the development of new design applications, workflows, and process improvements.
• 
  
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to exchange information and support design development.
• 
  
• Communicate project requirements, schedules, and progress to stakeholders.
• 
  
• Identify and address key client objectives and project drivers.
• 
  
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and the development of design standards.
• 
  
• Provide guidance, oversight, and mentoring to engineering technicians and support staff.
• 
  

Required Qualifications

• 
  
• Associate Degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or a related field.
• 
  
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering design, drafting, or technician experience.
• 
  
• Advanced experience with Bentley MicroStation and related Bentley software tools.
• 
  
• Strong understanding of electrical design principles and practices.
• 
  
• Experience developing 2D and 3D engineering deliverables for large industrial, power generation, or infrastructure projects.
• 
  
• Strong knowledge of project budgets, scheduling, and deliverable management.
• 
  
• Ability to lead design teams and coordinate work across multiple disciplines.
• 
  
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• 
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Design Technology or a related discipline.
• 
  
• Nuclear industry project experience.
• 
  
• Experience with SmartPlant Electrical.
• 
  
• Experience using AGI32 for lighting design, illumination calculations, and facility modeling.
• 
  
• Background in power generation, utility, industrial, or heavy infrastructure projects.
• 
  
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience managing technical design personnel.
