Lead HVAC Technician
Join a prestigious Brooklyn-based HVAC contractor with over 90 years of industry experience, specializing in projects for municipal facilities across New York City. This direct-hire opportunity offers union-standard compensation, a company van for job-site travel, and the chance to lead a team of HVAC professionals.
Responsibilities
-Lead and support a team of two HVAC technicians while performing hands-on service, installation, startup, troubleshooting, and repair.
-Service and maintain commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, air handling systems, boilers, and temperature controls.
-Support system startups, commissioning, and diagnostics, with familiarity in Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
-Travel from the company's Brooklyn headquarters to assigned job sites throughout all five boroughs, servicing municipal facilities such as schools, libraries, museums, and NYPD buildings.
Requirements
-Minimum of 10 years of HVAC experience, preferably in commercial or municipal environments.
-Must be a member of Local 638 (Steamfitters/Pipe Fitters Union) to work on assigned projects. Non-union candidates may be considered, but obtaining eligibility to work will take additional time.
-Strong technical knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including installation, startup, service, troubleshooting, repair, and temperature controls.
-Valid driver's license and strong leadership, communication, and hands-on technical skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
-Experience with chillers, cooling towers, air handling systems, boilers, and commercial temperature controls.
-Familiarity with BMS/BAS systems, commissioning, and diagnostics.
Position Details
Schedule: 7:00 AM-3:00 PM or 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
Compensation: base rate of $48.35/hour, with total compensation and benefits at Union standard
Location: Brooklyn headquarters, with job sites throughout all five boroughs of New York City.
Transportation: Company van provided for travel from headquarters to assigned job sites.
