Role Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on Lead Java Developer to guide architecture, development, integration, modernization, and production support for complex enterprise applications. The role combines Java engineering leadership with cross-layer troubleshooting and collaboration with business, technical, and client stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
" Translate business requirements into architecture, UML and component designs, integration patterns, data-access approaches, technical specifications, and maintainable implementation plans across application, database, middleware, and infrastructure layers.
" Lead development, maintenance, enhancements, assignments, design and code reviews, and developer mentoring; troubleshoot hands-on and enforce reusable engineering patterns, coding, security, accessibility, and organizational standards.
" Integrate web frontends, Java services and APIs, databases, portals, workflows, business rules, middleware, and third-party systems; support legacy-to-modern migration and platform compatibility.
" Develop and review complex SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and controlled, documented, tested production data-correction scripts; resolve performance and data-quality issues.
" Promote unit testing; support component, system integration, regression, and user acceptance testing; diagnose cross-layer defects and improve quality, stability, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
" Lead critical and emergency production support and root cause analysis; implement sustainable fixes and support deployments, releases, migrations, patches, platform upgrades, and infrastructure changes with minimal production impact.
" Maintain architecture, design, development, deployment, and system documentation; assess change and enhancement risks and dependencies.
" Collaborate with business, business analysts, QA, architecture, development, infrastructure, database, middleware, operations, and client leadership; communicate alternatives and recommendations to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Required Technical Skills
" Lead Java development experience with expert-level capability to guide and deliver complex application work.
" Ability to lead architecture and engineering delivery, code and design reviews, integration, technical troubleshooting, mentoring, and production support.
" Experience with one or more of Vue.js, AEM Portal, Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code, Team Foundation Server or Azure DevOps, application or platform modernization, and legacy-to-modern migration; not every tool is required.
Preferred Qualifications
" Deep background in overall software development and complex enterprise or government applications is strongly preferred.
" Extensive technical leadership and architecture experience and experience with WebSphere Process Server are preferred.
" Strong experience with Vue.js or a modern JavaScript framework is preferred.
