This position will support ColumbiaDoctors, one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast. ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.

Job Summary:
The Lead Multi-Modality Technologist is an experienced professional who leads and coordinates the operational and administrative functions of multiple services as described below. In this role, the incumbent will lead a collaborative team of technologists by directing staff activities and overseeing quality assurance and control activities. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving modality images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the modality area covered.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
- Perform imaging (CT, MRI, and/or PET/Nuclear Medicine) and general radiological procedures:
- Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and, at the radiologist’s discretion, the referring physician.
- Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging.
- Observe patient while in the modality being covered for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
- Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
- Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
- Administer contrast media via appropriate peripheral IV access as ordered and directed by staff.
- Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections.
- Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
- Train, assign, and delegate work to all technologists as necessary.
- Conducts competency assessments for assigned Technologists as directed.
- Review staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage on a daily basis.
- Assign or coordinate technologist coverage/schedule to ensure that coverage is maintained, especially during heavy demand.
- Support Practice Manager on recruitment, onboarding, performance appraisals, and disciplinary activities for technologists.
- Manage day-to-day QC activities; delegate process as appropriate for the assigned and/or satellite sites.
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as assigned by the Practice Manager.
- Manage or lead annual inspections, ensuing QC and regulatory manuals are current.
- Prepare and submit ACR accreditation materials.
- Work with vendors, facilities, IT and physics to evaluate new equipment, installation and staff training to ensure equipment is ready for patient care.
- Contribute ideas for improving practice workflows to team members, providers, and management. Works with management to implement performance improvement initiatives and related directives.
- Ensures and reinforces clinical and environmental regulatory compliance, as directed by practice administrators.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalency.
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, including 2-year minimum in a senior or lead technologist role; exposure to a wide range of CT, MRI, and/or PET/Nuclear Medicine studies required.
- NYS License, ARRT certified. Multiple Registry certification including CT, MRI, and/or PET/Nuclear Medicine.
- New York BLS certified
- Multiple modality Registry certified
- Demonstrated leadership proficiency in a team environment, including communication, training/knowledge-sharing, coordination, delegation, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in continuous improvement or quality initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Demonstrated participation in continuous improvement or quality initiatives.
- Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to de-escalate stressful situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population, demonstrating tact, respect, and empathy.
- Candidates must demonstrate strong aptitude for detail, flexibility, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
- Must be an engaged team member, demonstrating collaboration, inclusion, reliability, and adaptability to new and changing situations.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.
- Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices as needed (multiple sites and flexible schedule).
- Prior experience with supporting recruitment, training, and performance management for technologists preferred.
- State license to inject contrast preferred.
Hourly Rate Ranges: $66.13 - $89.49
Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
