As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Global Banking Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience leading designing and building solutions .
Expertise in Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA and relevant microservices framework.
Expertise in JavaScript, Typescript, React and popular test framework for UI
Expert-level experience with AI-assisted/agentic development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot and Claude Code) to accelerate full-stack delivery-leveraging AI for scaffolding, refactoring, debugging, documentation, code review, and test generation (unit/integration/E2E incl. Playwright), while enforcing secure usage (no secrets, security/license checks, SDLC compliance) and using agentic workflows (plan build test validate) with strong human oversight.
Experience practicing Spec-Driven Development: translating business requirements into clear functional/non-functional specs (API contracts, UI acceptance criteria, test cases), and driving implementation from those specs
Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
Familiarity with log/metric collection and monitoring technologies like Grafana, AppDynamics, and Splunk, Hands-on experience with building CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Fortify.
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle (including schema design, performance tuning, and SQL optimization).
Experience with event-driven processing using Kafka, Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Test Driven Development (TTD), with hands-on experience in test automation frameworks like Junit, Mockito, Playwright and Cucumber.
