Job Summary and Qualifications

The Speech Therapist provides high quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive and/or swallowing impairments. As an active member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.​ 

What you will do in this role:

Conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient’s speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation.

Administer objective tests to assess patient’s communication assets and liabilities. 

Compare results to standardized data to evaluate communicative function. 

Structure and implement an individualized patient program to improve communication abilities. 

Evaluate the patient regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize patient progress. 

Document progress in patient’s chart, completes notes, charges, discharge notes and patient communication. 

Consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients. 

Perform other duties as assigned. 

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
  • (SLP) Speech-Language Pathologist required
  • FEES Certified required
  • 2+ years experience preferred
