About the opportunity

Butterfly Staffing is seeking an experienced Lead Construction Superintendent for an established general contractor with projects in the Hampton Roads area.

This opportunity is ideal for a construction professional with a strong background in multifamily and commercial building projects who enjoys leading field operations, coordinating subcontractors, mentoring team members, and seeing projects through from groundbreaking to final turnover.

We're looking for someone who brings strong construction knowledge, takes ownership of their projects, and knows how to keep a jobsite running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations from construction startup through project completion and closeout.

• Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules, including construction sequencing and subcontractor coordination.

• Supervise assistant superintendents, project engineers, field personnel, and other assigned team members.

• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, materials, and equipment to maintain project progress.

• Implement and oversee quality control procedures, inspections, and compliance with project specifications.

• Maintain jobsite safety and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.

• Work closely with project managers to monitor schedules, budgets, subcontractor performance, and project milestones.

• Review plans, specifications, submittals, and contract documents to identify and resolve construction issues.

• Support subcontract administration, purchasing, and review of payment applications.

• Maintain positive working relationships with owners, subcontractors, design professionals, and project teams.

• Oversee punch lists, inspections, and final project turnover.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in ground-up construction and/or major building renovations, with demonstrated experience leading construction field operations.

• Strong experience in multifamily, commercial, or other comparable vertical building construction.

• Proven ability to coordinate multiple trades and manage subcontractors throughout various phases of construction.

• Experience developing and maintaining construction schedules and managing jobsite quality and safety.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

• Experience supervising and mentoring field personnel.

• Working knowledge of project budgets, subcontract administration, and cost controls.

• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.

• Current OSHA 30 certification.

• Construction-related degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Additional certifications, including CCM, PMP, LEED, or related credentials, are a plus.
