Lil' Sunflowers Learning Academy is looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Toddler Teacher to join our growing team!
We are seeking someone who has a genuine passion for early childhood education and enjoys helping young children learn, explore, and grow. The ideal candidate is patient, nurturing, organized, and able to create a positive, engaging classroom environment.
As a Toddler Teacher, you will play an important role in supporting children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while providing a safe and loving environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan and implement fun, engaging, and age-appropriate learning activities that support early childhood development.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and organized classroom environment where children feel comfortable and supported.
- Encourage children's social, emotional, language, and motor skill development through daily activities and play.
- Use positive guidance and effective classroom management techniques to support children's behavior.
- Assist children with daily routines, including diapering, potty training, meals, handwashing, and nap time.
- Observe and document children's developmental progress and milestones.
- Build positive relationships with families and maintain open, professional communication.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and administration to ensure a successful classroom environment.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and proper sanitation procedures.
- Follow all Michigan childcare licensing rules, center policies, and health and safety procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- CDA certification, early childhood education coursework, or previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
- Experience working with toddlers is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills with children, families, and coworkers.
- Must be patient, dependable, energetic, and passionate about working with young children.
- Must meet Michigan childcare licensing and background check requirements.
- Must be willing to complete all required childcare training and certifications.
- Must have reliable transportation and consistent attendance.

Great Start to Quality is Michigan’s quality recognition and improvement system, which sets the quality standards and evaluates the quality of early care and education programs. It is funded by the Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential. Great Start to Quality includes 10 Resource Centers across the state that work with programs to take steps to improve their quality. Great Start to Quality also shares information about programs with families and helps families select the right program for their needs.
