Job Title/Position: Lead Technician, HVAC Department/School: Facilities & Support Services

Primary Purpose:
Coordinates, schedules, maintains, repairs, and installs heating, ventilation, air-conditioning equipment, and all related equipment and services.
Monitor, maintain and repair HVAC Direct Digital Controls systems. Supervise HVAC Senior Technicians and Technicians.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
High School Diploma or equivalent. The ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and a minimum of ten years HVAC related experience. Current
State of Texas HVAC/R Class A Contractors License. Must have EPA Universal Technician Certification, a valid Texas driver's license able to qualify as a
driver under the district's insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.
Major Responsibilities:
Assign work orders to HVAC technicians, as appropriate.
Monitor team progress to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Train new technicians.
Perform preventative maintenance procedures for all HVAC equipment including system operational checks and cleaning of all coils.
Complete PM logs, refrigerant tracking log, maintain safety data sheets log and collects new SDS, as needed, to keep HVAC SDS logs current.
Perform daily survey of HVAC Direct Digital Control system for potential problem equipment.
Ensure a clean and organized service truck and report discrepancies to auto fleet manager.
Diagnose and repair malfunctions on all heating and air conditioning systems. Repair or replace heating and air conditioning systems and
components to include replacement of items such as compressors, reversing valves, fan motors and electrical components.
Procure parts and equipment necessary to complete jobs.
Work with senior technician requiring advanced trouble shooting procedures including calibration of controls, air balancing, and modifications
to the HVAC system.
Communicate with technicians and assist, as needed.
Update work orders with material usage, repairs, labor and turn in all purchase requisitions and other pertaining paperwork.
Maintain inventory of district owned tools and equipment.
Identify and report needed repairs on district buildings and equipment. Keep leadership advised of potential problems.
Maintain all building exhaust systems and vent hood systems.
Maintain good rapport with customers and advise when repairs are complete.
Follow Educator Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of established safety procedures and techniques
Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation procedures
Good knowledge of HVAC controls systems
Skill working in a collaborative, team-based environment
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, guidelines, procedures, and codes
General knowledge of HVAC DDC controls system and computer skills
Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics and written reference material
Skill in mathematical calculations
Skill in the use of HVAC tools and equipment including, but not limited to, recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, meters, gauges,
oxygen/acetylene torch and ladders
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise HVAC Senior Technicians and Technicians
Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):
Requires repetitive hand motions, and daily exposure to possible adverse weather elements for extended periods of time. Must be able to push pull
lift, and/or carry 40 pounds independently and over 40 pounds with assistance. May require after hours, weekends, or on call availability, as needed.
