Location: Remote
Duration: 5 Months with possibility of an extension and conversion to a Full-Time position.

Travel: Less than 5% travel needed.

Only W2 candidates are eligible for this position. Third-party or C2C candidates will not be considered.
Description:
Day to Day Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end design for healthcare provider experiences across prescription CGM products, from problem framing and workflow mapping through high-fidelity design, technical flows, documentation, approvals, and delivery.
  • Build a strong understanding of provider workflows, including patient onboarding, glucose data review, clinical follow-up, treatment decision support, therapy adjustments, and coordination across care settings.
  • Translate continuous glucose data, trends, alerts, and system states into clear, actionable provider experiences that support safe and appropriate clinical decision-making.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, User Research, Human Factors, Regulatory, Quality, Medical Affairs, and Legal to define user needs, requirements, feasibility, risk controls, labeling considerations, and approval needs.
  • Plan and support provider research, contextual inquiry, usability testing, and Human Factors activities; synthesize findings into design direction and risk mitigations.
  • Facilitate workshops and present recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership, clearly communicating the problem, evidence, tradeoffs, rationale, and next steps.
  • Mentor designers and contribute to a collaborative culture of design excellence, constructive feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Primary focus: Provider-facing experiences only; patient-side experience is not required.
  • Experience: Senior-level product designer, with strong UX strategy, problem solving, experience definition, and product design capabilities. Strategy is especially important because this person will help define a new experience.
Where you come in:
  • You'll design experiences for prescription-based CGM products that support people living with diabetes and the healthcare professionals who care for them. You'll develop an understanding of diabetes management, glucose patterns, alerts, treatment decision support, clinical workflows, and the evolving diabetes technology landscape.
  • You'll represent and advocate for patients with diabetes, caregivers, and healthcare providers. You'll work with key cross-functional stakeholders to understand clinical and business priorities, define problem statements, requirements, and user needs. You'll lead workshops, contribute to strategy discussions, capture design requirements, and clarify feasibility considerations. Your designs will evolve from early-stage concepts and low-resolution wireframes to high-resolution screens, technical flows, and regulated product documentation.
  • You'll translate continuous glucose data, trends, alerts, and system states into meaningful, actionable experiences. You'll understand technical inputs from Dexcom and partner systems and communicate complex clinical information clearly, safely, and appropriately for patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
  • You'll help plan and support research, usability testing, and Human Factors activities for clinical CGM experiences. You'll synthesize research and testing findings to inform designs, identify patient and provider needs, support risk mitigation, and define next steps.
  • You'll lead presentations to cross functional teams and management. Communicate the problem, the opportunity, and the design recommendations. Be a design diplomat. Be welcoming of feedback and navigate respectful disagreement. Seek to inform and influence the audience. Be willing to compromise to find a mutually agreeable solution.
  • You'll work with Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Quality, Legal, and Human Factors teams to ensure designs align with prescription product requirements, intended use, labeling considerations, clinical risk controls, and approval needs. You'll iterate on design mitigations and gain approvals for proposed solutions.
  • You'll help foster a culture of support, continuous improvement, and design excellence within the team and all those who partner with us. Be positive and solutions oriented. Build up our teams, departments, and company through words and actions. Learn from existing members of the team and mentor your colleagues.
What makes you successful:
  • Prior experience as a Senior or Lead UX Designer delivering complex digital health, medical device, or clinical software products.
  • 6+ years of UX or product design experience, with demonstrated strength designing patient- and provider-facing experiences in healthcare, diabetes care, or other regulated product environments.
  • You must have a portfolio that demonstrates strong end-to-end UX design process, including clinical problem framing, workflow mapping, data visualization, interaction design, usability testing, and design rationale. Include your online portfolio link or PDF in your application, including any required passwords.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or another related field.
  • You must have experience designing mobile app experiences and familiarity with iOS, Android, accessibility, and platform design patterns. Experience designing companion experiences for sensors, wearables, connected devices, or data-rich health products is strongly preferred.
  • You must be proficient with modern design, prototyping, and collaboration tools including Figma. Familiarity with design systems and AI-enabled design workflows is a plus.
  • Experience with regulated medical device software, prescription digital health products, Human Factors/usability engineering, WCAG accessibility guidelines, and healthcare data visualization is strongly preferred.
  • You must be able to work in a highly collaborative, regulated, fast-paced environment with Product, Engineering, Research, Human Factors, Regulatory, Quality, Medical Affairs, and Legal partners. You must be able to manage schedules, prioritize work, communicate tradeoffs, and meet deadlines.
Work related years of experience
  • 6+ years of UX or product design experience. Prior experience operating as a Senior or Lead UX Designer on complex digital health, medical device, clinical software, or other regulated products is required.
  • Portfolio: Should demonstrate strong product/UX thinking and how the candidate identified and solved problems. Heavy visual-design expertise is less important because there is an internal visual team.
  • Healthcare experience: Preferred, especially for understanding the space, but strong strategic product-design/leadership skills are considered more important. Formal human-factors experience is not required.
  • Key partners: Product (primary), Engineering and User Research, plus Human Factors, Regulatory/Quality, and Medical Affairs.
  • Leadership: Primarily an individual-contributor role, but the person should be comfortable taking ownership of UX strategy and influencing direction.
Required Skills
  • Provider-facing healthcare UX: Demonstrated experience designing for healthcare professionals and complex clinical workflows, preferably including longitudinal data review, decision support, follow-up care, or therapy adjustment.
  • Regulated end-to-end product design: 6+ years leading complex UX work from clinical problem framing and workflow mapping through interaction design, usability testing, design rationale, documentation, and cross-functional approvals.
  • Data-rich mobile and platform design: Strong portfolio evidence translating complex health data into clear, actionable experiences, with proficiency in Figma and familiarity with iOS, Android, accessibility, and design systems.
Preferred Skills
  • Diabetes care, continuous glucose monitoring, endocrinology, primary care, or other chronic-condition management experience.
  • Experience with regulated medical device software, prescription digital health, Human Factors/usability engineering, clinical risk controls, and healthcare data visualization.
  • Experience with connected devices, sensors, wearables, interoperability, companion apps, or AI-enabled design workflows or EHR integration
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or related field.
  • Education/experience: Bachelor's degree appears to be required; Level 4 guidelines mentioned approximately 8 12 years of related experience with a bachelor's, or 4+ years with a graduate degree. The manager also indicated preference around the senior range rather than significantly overqualified candidates.
Required Testing:
  • Portfolio review; Panel interview with design team members
Software Skills Required:
  • Figma; modern design, prototyping, and collaboration tools.
Dislikes on Resumes:
  • Portfolio is primarily visual/UI work with limited evidence of problem framing, workflow design, research, testing, or decision rationale.
  • Experience is limited to consumer e-commerce, marketing, or general productivity products with no evidence of complex, regulated, clinical, or data-rich workflows.
  • Portfolio shows patient-facing work only and does not demonstrate provider, enterprise healthcare, or professional workflow experience.
  • Unable to explain personal ownership, cross-functional collaboration, tradeoffs, or outcomes in presented case studies.
  • No mobile app design experience or no proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, including Figma.
Interview Proeces
  • Number of Interviews: 2
  • interview Process - Combination
    • 30-minute screening interview with the Hiring Manager, including a portfolio case study presentation
    • 1-hour panel interview with 2-3 design team members, including a 20-30 minute portfolio review followed by 30 minutes of Q&A.
