General Description and Classification Standards:
Oversees the administration of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), and other applicable federal, state, and local leave and accommodation laws. And this position provides leadership for the Office of Medical Leave by directing staff, developing policies and procedures, ensuring legal compliance, improving operational efficiency, managing complex leave and accommodation matters, and delivering exceptional customer service to employees and City departments.
Supervision Received:
Works under the general direction of the Human Resources Deputy Commissioner or designee.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field; and
Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources, employee relations, leave administration, disability management, ADA accommodations or a related field, including at least three (3) years or substantial experience administering or managing ADA accommodations and/or FMLA matters; and at least two (2) years of supervisory, lead, or project management experience.
Licensures and Certifications - None.
Preferred Requirements - Master's degree, Juris Doctor, or other advanced degree in a related field with seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, leave administration, disability management, employee relations, or a related field. Five (5) or more years of direct ADA and FMLA administration experience. Three (3) or more years of supervisory or management experience. Experience managing a high-volume leave and accommodation operation. Experience developing and implementing ADA/FMLA policies, procedures, forms, or standard operating procedures. Experience working with employment counsel on complex leave and accommodation matters. Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, CLMS, or comparable credential.
