    Description:

    The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure-track Lecturer position at UH Katy campus. Qualified candidates must hold at least one degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Ideal candidates will have a Master''s degree (for undergraduate courses) or PhD in a design-related field (for graduate level courses), with an exemplary record of professional practice, scholarship, and teaching experience.

    Candidates must demonstrate superior presentational skills, as well as clarity in communication and openness to collaboration. Candidates with a strong commitment to innovative teaching practices, critical practice, theoretical scholarship, as well as various specializations are encouraged to apply. Please be sure to indicate the ECE courses that you are interested in teaching.

    Course Instruction will include the following areas:

    1. Control Systems

    2. Embedded Controls

    3. Electric Power

    4. Signal Processing

    5. Computer Engineering

    6. Communication Systems

    The University of Houston is a Carnegie Tier One public research university that is located on a park-like campus a few minutes from the Houston city center. The ECE Department stretches across two campuses, one in Houston (central), and one in Katy, TX. Our central campus is home to 36 tenure-track faculty, 4 full-time research faculty, and 4 instructional faculty, with 3 NAE members, 3 NAI Fellows, 8 IEEE Fellows, 3 AIMBE Fellows, 2 SAE Fellows, 2 FRSC (UK), and Fellows of OSA, APS, AAAS, ECS, and SPIE, among other distinctions.

    The department is home to multiple NSF Centers, Industry/University Consortia, and NanoFabrication Facility. The university has a well-developed faculty-centered ecosystem for translational research and commercialization of technologies. The department has modern research facilities, annual research expenditures exceeding $10 million, and a vibrant graduate program with more than 100 Ph.D. students. The successful candidate will join a collegial group of research-oriented faculty working in a highly collaborative environment.

    The Cullen College of Engineering is ranked #44 in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report list of top public engineering programs across the nation. Houston is the fourth-largest city in the U.S., with a population of over 6.8 million in the greater Houston area. It is the "energy capital of the world" and houses the largest medical center in the world. The greater Houston area offers state-of-the-art recreational facilities, world-class arts and activities, excellent schools, and affordable housing.

    This is a 12-month appointment, it may be renewable contingent on funding, performance, and programmatic need. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026.

    Employees are expected to have a home address in the state of Texas for the duration of their appointments.

    Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates.

Individuals conducting research in critical infrastructure areas (i.e., communication infrastructure systems, cybersecurity systems, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment systems, and/or water treatment facilities) are subject to regular review to ensure the security and integrity of the research is maintained.
