In this multifaceted role, you will play a crucial part in supporting attorneys across practice areas by managing new matters, handling document management, assisting with estate planning documents, and navigating state and federal court systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Matter Management: Conduct thorough conflict checks and open new matters efficiently.
- Document Handling: Manage legal documents using advanced document management software and prepare comprehensive closing binders.
- Legal Drafting: Draft engagement letters and essential estate planning documents.
- Filings & Notices: File documents with the South Carolina Secretary of State and other governing authorities, as well as publish necessary legal notices.
- Court E-Filing: Utilize South Carolina State and Federal court e-filing systems with proficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education & Experience: Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred, ideally with 2 to 3 years of experience as a legal assistant or in a professional services environment.
- Specialized Knowledge: A solid understanding of the South Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Court practices.
- Bonus Skills: Previous experience with immigration law, DocuSign, and dictation is a strong plus!
- Technical Proficiency: High comfort level with legal technology tools, systems, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, a high commitment to accuracy, and strong written and verbal communication.
