General Responsibility

Serve as a Legal Assistant for SLEDs Office of General Counsel and assist with special projects and activities as needed.

Specific Duties

  • Coordinate and process extradition requests received by SLEDs Office of General Counsel. Receive, log, review, research, track, and process extradition requests and other requests as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws and procedures regarding extraditions. Ensure requests are accomplished within mandated time limits as required by law.
  • Assist SLEDs Office of General Counsel with special projects, events, and other activities. This includes answering telephone calls, responding to emails, and assisting with general tasks as needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A high school diploma.
  • Must have experience with data management, record keeping, communications, scheduling, and drafting correspondence and legal documents.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the agency.
