Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is looking for a proactive and highly organized Legal Assistant to join our Denver office ! The Legal Assistant will provide legal and administrative support to timekeepers in the Venture Best practice area. Prior experience as a Legal Assistant and experience supporting Transactional, Corporate or Litigation attorneys is required.What You'll Be Doing Manage an active calendar of appointments, meetings, video calls and travel plans on behalf of attorneysProcess new client/matter documentation including initiation of conflict checks, input information into Firm\'s new business intake system and prepare engagement letters to clientsCompose and prepare confidential correspondenceTranscribe, type, edit, proofread, and finalize legal documents, correspondence, memos, charts, billings and reportsMaintain and organize both hard-copy and electronic filesRespond and resolve questions or concerns from clients and other attorneys in a timely and professional mannerPrepare and submit personal and client-related attorney expense reports and reimbursements into Firm's expense management software, ChromeRiverEnter time into time management software on behalf of timekeepersCreate reports using ExcelCommunicate with clients as to billing issues and status of mattersTrack and file continuing legal education credit for assigned legal staffProvide assistance in civic, charitable, community, and professional activitiesJob Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required; Certificate or Undergraduate Degree strongly preferred3 -5+ years' experience in a legal environment, preferably in the transactional and/or litigation practice areaAbility and willingness to work in the office four to five days per weekProfessional demeanor and willingness to work proactively as part of a team across various practice groupsExceptional communication skills via phone, email and in-personStrong organizational and process skills, focused attention on detail, and ability to spot inaccuracies and inconsistencies in documentsTechnology literacy and willingness to learn new technologies and softwareAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft OfficeExperience in the following software a plus:iManage or similar electronic document management systemDocuSign or similar e-signature programiTimekeep or similar electronic time management systemChrome River or similar expense report and reimbursement softwareElectronic billing softwareCourtAlertAbility to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position and Firm evolvesAbility to work quickly and accurately under pressure and varying deadlinesAbility to work well independently as well as effectively within a teamAbility to multi-task, set priorities, manage time effectively and exhibit excellent follow-upTeam player mentality, with a desire to be a part of a collaborative, high-performing groupAbility to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the FirmWillingness and ability to work proactively in our Team Environment, across various groups and/or locationsCommunication Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and staffExcellent oral and written communication skillsProblem Solving Skills Ability and confidence to identify and analyze issues, make decisions, and initiate actions/solutionsAgility to respond to unexpected challenges, including proactively developing innovative solutions to complex problemsProfessionalism Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate good judgmentAbility to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretionOther Valid authorization to work in the U.S.The Company This is an opportunity to work with the Best .
