    Ultimate Staffing is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant-Litigation to support our local Detroit, MI clients. These opportunities vary from project-based to full-time open positions.     Job Summary

    We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with litigation experience to support attorneys throughout all phases of the litigation process. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced legal environment. This position plays a critical role in case preparation, court filings, and attorney support.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to attorneys
    • Prepare, draft, proofread, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, and correspondence
    • Manage electronic and paper filing in state and federal courts, including e‑filing systems
    • Maintain litigation calendars, track deadlines, and monitor court schedules
    • Assist with discovery procedures, including document production, requests, responses, and deposition preparation
    • Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and trial notebooks
    • Coordinate service of process and communicate with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and vendors
    • Assist in trial preparation, hearings, and arbitrations as needed
    • Perform legal research and factual investigations under attorney supervision
    • Manage billing entries, expense tracking, and timesheets (if applicable)

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum X years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal supporting litigation matters
    • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, and filing requirements
    • Experience with state and federal court e‑filing systems
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal case management software
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize deadlines
    • High attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in specific practice areas (e.g., civil litigation, employment, commercial, personal injury, insurance defense, or family law)
    • Familiarity with document management and e‑discovery platforms
    • Paralegal certificate or legal assistant certification
    • Experience supporting trial preparation and courtroom proceedings

    Work Environment & Expectations

    • Fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
    • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
    • May require occasional overtime during trial or peak litigation periods
