GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Legal Fellow is responsible for performing a variety of professional legal work under the supervision and instruction of the City Attorney or his/her designee.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
NOTE: The duties listed below are typical examples of work performed by positions with this job description. Not all duties assigned to every position are included, nor is it expected that all positions will be assigned every duty.
Under the supervision of licensed Law Department attorneys, conduct criminal, civil, and administrative litigation, including but not limited to case review, discovery, motion practice, settlement/plea bargaining, trial, and appeals.
Prepares, drafts, analyzes, reviews legal documents, such as legal opinions, contracts, resolutions, ordinances, complaints, and other legal filings.
Researches and provides legal advice and training.
Responds to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act.
Performs related work as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
