Adler & Colvin has an opening in our San Francisco office for a new member of our secretarial team.  We are looking for the following basic requirements:
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a corporate legal secretary
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, document management and attorney timekeeping software, with a minimum typing speed of 60 wpm with 80% accuracy
  • Experience in basic Internet research
  • The ability to manage many complex and small projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proven organizational skills with an extremely high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior ability to fulfill internal and external client needs with courtesy and respect
  • Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm and innovation in a collaborative, team environment
  • Strong attendance and punctuality with the ability to work occasional overtime as needed is essential

A day in the life of a legal secretary includes the following activities:
  • Preparing, proofreading, formatting, and finalizing legal documents, correspondence, filings, and reports with accuracy and attention to detail, including advanced formatting
  • Managing client files and electronic records
  • Supporting new client intake, engagement documentation, and conflicts processes
  • Maintaining attorney calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel and logistics
  • Monitoring and calendaring important deadlines and assisting with light legal and online research
  • Assisting with billing, time entry, expense reimbursements, and other administrative processes
  • Serving as a professional point of contact for clients, attorneys, and internal staff
  • Providing general administrative and operational support to help the team work efficiently and effectively

Employment is contingent on a satisfactory background screen. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. 

Adler & Colvin offers competitive compensation and generous benefits: 

Compensation:  $43.58 per hour ($85K annually)

Health Insurance: Kaiser, Blue Shield PPO and HMO plan options with a national PPO network, along with dental and vision insurance. Adler & Colvin generously contributes toward the employee cost of group medical coverage. 

Dental & Vision Insurance: 
Adler & Colvin pays 100% of dental and vision premiums. 

Basic Life/AD&D and Long-Term Disability Insurance: 
Adler & Colvin pays 100% of the premiums. 

Retirement: 401(K) Profit Sharing Plan. Under the Safe Harbor provisions of the Plan, the firm contributes 5% total gross compensation up to the allowable maximum for the 401(K) part of the plan. The Profit-Sharing provisions are subject to end of year calculations. 

Paid Time Off: Competitive vacation accrual; designated paid holidays, paid floating holiday, and sick leave 

Other Details: This is a hybrid position following an initial onsite period at our San Francisco office.
