POSITION OVERVIEW

Capital Protection Group, Inc. is seeking professional, dependable, and safety-focused Level 2 Security Officers – Less-Lethal Qualified to support a variety of client locations throughout the Sacramento region.

Within CPG, a Level 2 Officer is an experienced security professional who has progressed beyond entry-level guard responsibilities and is qualified for assignments requiring increased situational awareness, independent decision-making, de-escalation skills, professional report writing, and, where specifically authorized, approved less-lethal defensive equipment.

This is not an armed position. Level 2 Officers are not authorized to carry a firearm unless separately assigned to an armed position and properly licensed, permitted, trained, and authorized by CPG.

Our officers are expected to lead with professionalism, sound judgment, communication, de-escalation, and respect while protecting our clients, their property, employees, guests, and the surrounding community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Level 2 Security Officers may be assigned responsibilities including:

  • Conducting interior, exterior, foot, and/or mobile patrols.
  • Monitoring entrances, exits, restricted areas, parking areas, and client property.
  • Performing access control, credential verification, and visitor management.
  • Monitoring CCTV, alarms, and other security systems when assigned.
  • Identifying suspicious activity, safety hazards, policy violations, and potential threats.
  • Applying verbal de-escalation and conflict-management techniques before physical intervention whenever reasonably appropriate.
  • Responding to disturbances, trespassing, medical emergencies, safety concerns, and other security-related incidents within the scope of training and assigned post orders.
  • Contacting law enforcement, fire, EMS, management, or other emergency resources when appropriate.
  • Maintaining professional communication with clients, members of the public, coworkers, supervisors, and responding agencies.
  • Completing accurate, objective, and timely incident reports and daily activity reports.
  • Following all CPG policies, client-specific post orders, BSIS requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Maintaining accountability for all company-issued uniforms, equipment, keys, radios, vehicles, and security devices.
  • Prioritizing the safety and well-being of themselves, coworkers, clients, and members of the public.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must:

  • Possess a current and active California BSIS Security Guard Registration (Guard Card) at the time required for assignment.
  • Possess a current and active Less Lethal Certification at the time required for assignment.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successfully complete applicable pre-employment screening and onboarding requirements.
  • Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be capable of reading, understanding, and consistently following written post orders and company directives.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, emotional control, and appropriate conflict-management skills.
  • Be capable of completing detailed electronic reports using a smartphone or other mobile device.
  • Maintain reliable transportation and dependable attendance appropriate to assigned shifts.
  • Be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

LESS-LETHAL QUALIFICATIONS

Depending upon the assignment, Level 2 Officers may be required or preferred to possess current training, certification, or permits applicable to one or more of the following:

  • OC / Pepper Spray / Chemical Agent
  • Electronic Control Device / Taser
  • Handcuffing / Restraint Techniques
  • De-escalation and Appropriate Use of Force
  • CPR / First Aid / AED

Possession of training or equipment does not independently authorize an employee to carry or use that equipment while working for CPG.

Officers may carry only equipment that is lawful for the assignment, supported by all required training/permits, and specifically authorized by Capital Protection Group for that post. Employees must comply with applicable BSIS requirements and CPG use-of-force, equipment, reporting, and post-order policies at all times.

USE OF FORCE & DE-ESCALATION EXPECTATIONS

CPG emphasizes prevention, communication, situational awareness, and de-escalation.

Less-lethal equipment is considered a defensive tool—not a substitute for communication, judgment, or appropriate disengagement. Officers are expected to use only the level of intervention that is lawful, objectively appropriate to the circumstances, consistent with their training, and permitted by CPG policy and assigned post orders.

Any reportable use of force or defensive equipment must be immediately reported and documented in accordance with company policy and applicable legal or regulatory requirements.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • One or more years of professional security experience.
  • Prior patrol, PBID, hospitality, commercial, residential, event, casino, or high-contact security experience.
  • Current less-lethal certifications or permits.
  • Strong de-escalation and conflict-management experience.
  • Experience preparing detailed security or incident reports.
  • Prior military, public safety, criminal justice, or related experience.
  • Experience working independently in dynamic public-facing environments.

SCHEDULING & ASSIGNMENTS

CPG operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Available assignments may include days, swings, graveyards, weekends, holidays, special events, and mobile or foot-patrol positions.

Assignment to a particular client location, schedule, or post is based on operational needs, employee availability, qualifications, required credentials, performance, and client/post requirements. Assignment to one location does not guarantee permanent placement at that location.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Depending upon the essential functions of the assigned post, the position may involve prolonged standing or walking, climbing stairs, working indoors or outdoors, exposure to varying weather conditions, and responding to security incidents.

CPG will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified applicants and employees with disabilities as required by applicable law.

COMPENSATION

Hourly Pay Range: $20/hour

The anticipated starting rate within this range will be determined using lawful, job-related factors such as relevant experience, training, certifications, assignment requirements, skills, and internal compensation practices.

Additional differentials may be available for qualifying assignments, schedules, responsibilities, or credentials when applicable.

BENEFITS & EMPLOYEE PROGRAMS

Eligible employees may have access to CPG benefits and employee programs in accordance with applicable plan documents, eligibility requirements, and company policies. Benefits may vary based on employment classification, hours worked, rank, and eligibility.
