The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the supervision of a provider and/or Registered Nurse (RN), collaborating with all members of the healthcare team to support providers, co-workers, patients, and their families. The LPN plays a vital role in ensuring efficient patient flow, delivering high-quality care, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment within the department.
Responsibilities:
Communication
* Documents observations, interventions, and patient responses.

* Provides psychological and social support for patient/families.

* Triages incoming telephone calls and responds to phone messages.

* Communicates laboratory and diagnostic data to physician and patient under direction of provider.
Patient Care
* Contributes to patient assessment and care delivery by collecting and reporting relevant data.

* Uses pain assessment tools to determine and monitor patient pain levels.

* Assists physicians with dressing changes, suture removals, and other minor procedures.

* Participates in developing patient care strategies and care plans.

* Ensures smooth patient flow and efficient processing in an outpatient clinic setting.

* Processes provider orders and performs follow-up assessments after procedures.

* Educates patients and families about procedures, protocols, testing, and care needs as directed by the supervising RN or Physician.

* Demonstrates knowledge of pharmaceuticals, including expected effects and potential side effects.

* Reports adverse medication reactions promptly to the provider.

* Performs medical interventions and sterile procedures as required as within the scope of LPN practice.

Administrative
* Prioritizes and problem solves to meet patient demands.

* Reviews clinical schedule; ensures emergency referrals are scheduled accordingly.
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED- Required

Graduate from an accredited LPN program/ post one year RN program.- Required

 

Current unrestricted Arizona LPN license Required


BLS (American Heart Association) certification- Required


IV certification - Preferred


ACLS & PALS (must be obtained within one year of hire)- Required

 
Minimum 1 year of back office experience in a physician office/clinic- Preferred

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
