Very busy Department of Oncology seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to perform standard duties within scope of practice. Registered Nurses will also be considered for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care primarily within the Injection Room, including pediatric vaccinations.
May include scheduling appointments, obtains pre-certification, does patient call back as directed.
Provides I.V. care for patients according to Clinic standards and certification if needed.
Provides medical treatments including injections/immunizations as directed by the physician.
Records vital signs, medication administered and performs other tasks within the EMR.
Assists with patient teaching and planning.
Assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner.
Prepare equipment and assists physician with medical treatments, exams and surgical procedures if needed.
Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
Complies with the System's infection control policies and procedures including Body Substance Isolation (BSI) and the Exposure Control Plan which reflects OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate books and manuals.
Other duties as necessary / assigned.
Qualifications:
One year experience in related field of nursing and/or area of specialty.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with high focus on quality patient care.
Proficient computer skills with EMR experience.
Adhere to HIPAA/OSHA/BLOODBORNE PATHOGEN regulations; maintain required workplace trainings.
