Description

About Grohaus

We're here to drive transformation and growth.

Grohaus is a passionate team of lifecycle marketing experts from industry-leading tech companies across media, entertainment, online gaming, sports, health & wellness, and e-commerce. Our mission is to empower ambitious tech-enabled businesses to achieve sustainable growth through innovative lifecycle marketing programs that deliver new user acquisition, nurture engagement, and support long-term retention.

We bring a beginner's mindset to every client, developing effective and compassionate partnerships. Our unwavering focus lies in delivering measurable results.

The Role

You'll lead lifecycle marketing strategy projects for our clients. That means learning each client's product and user experience deeply enough to understand their user journeys and personas, then developing a sound, independent point of view on how lifecycle marketing fits into their growth strategy. You'll audit existing programs and deliver read-outs that actually change what your clients do next. You'll architect activation and engagement journeys in industry-leading customer engagement platforms, plan the campaigns that fill them, and turn performance data into insight your clients can act on.

You'll work directly with our Founder/CEO, our campaign production and creative subcontractors, and client-based marketing, product, and engineering teams.

Within your first year, you'll take responsibility for strategy for multiple clients across a diverse set of industries, and then have the opportunity to take full ownership of the Strategy function at Grohaus.

Location & Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid role based in New York City. You'll split your time between our midtown Manhattan workspace and remote work, with 3 days per week in office. In-person collaboration with our Founder/CEO, local subcontractors, and clients is a meaningful part of how you'll ramp up and how we work together, so you should reside in the NYC metro area.

What You'll Do

Client Management

  • Own day-to-day strategy and campaign management for multiple clients, tracking progress through project management and collaboration tools like Notion, Trello, or Google Docs.
  • Lead recurring project status meetings, present updates, facilitate new requests, and field questions live and async
  • Communicate proactively about delivery, especially the moment something is at risk of slipping, or deserves consideration for a strategic pivot
  • Keep well-documented agendas, project boards, and shared folders

Program & Campaign Strategy

  • Plan and launch automated flows/journeys, and ad-hoc/broadcast campaigns independently, or alongside a campaign producer depending on client resourcing
  • Audit full lifecycle marketing/CRM programs, or individual campaigns, and deliver actionable recommendations
  • Architect messaging journeys that facilitate activation and retention, and support strategic content planning for ad-hoc engagement campaigns
  • Produce detailed creative and technical briefs
  • Build strategic roadmaps on lifecycle marketing initiatives in collaboration with your clients

Reporting & Insights

  • Run campaign reporting and analysis, and package it into cleanly-formatted workbooks, briefs, or decks
  • Perform exploratory data analysis on user behavior leveraging data in the client's customer engagement platform, business intelligence or product analytics software
  • Document recurring campaign reporting processes for streamlined knowledge-sharing

Platform Expertise

  • Advise and support clients on operational and technical work inside their customer engagement platform
  • Partner with client engineering, product, and marketing teams on projects like migrations, data schema planning, channel enablement, email IP warming, deliverability monitoring, and third-party integrations
  • Build comprehensive action plans to facilitate cross-functional migrations, integrations, and enablements projects

Agency Growth

  • Identify and document new opportunities within existing accounts (i.e. added scope & extended engagements)
  • Contribute strategy slides and documents to new business pitches, and present that work on pitch calls
  • Connect new opportunities to relevant past work, and surface the documentation that supports the pitch
  • Identify and document opportunities to make referrals to our technology partners

Content & Brand Building

  • Spot great case study opportunities while the client work is happening
  • Collaborate with creative subcontractors on case studies, blog articles, and social media posts
  • Share Grohaus milestones, content, and industry insights on LinkedIn and in Slack communities

Who You'll Work With

  • Our Founder/CEO: you'll learn a client fast, form your own point of view, and know when to raise your hand. You'll be asked how and why you did things. Be comfortable being pushed and challenged in order to grow.
  • Client marketing directors and executives: You'll speak with confidence, explain complex technical work without being overly technical, flag red flags early, and stay level-headed with headstrong partners.
  • In-house Lifecycle Marketing Managers/Leads: You'll delegate comfortably, hand off context generously, and sometimes help train your own successor.
  • Campaign Production subcontractors: You'll delegate and collaborate with producers that will bring your vision to life. You'll communicate effectively and honestly. You'll push others towards excellence with compassion.
  • Creative staff, ours and our clients' designers, copywriters, content strategists: You'll hold people to deadlines, follow up without flinching, and give direct feedback grounded in best practices.
  • Client technical staff, product managers and engineers: You'll explain business objectives and their value, write thorough technical briefs, and help them think through problems.
  • Marketing analysts: You'll communicate the insight you're after clearly, and stay open to feedback on your own read of the data.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Minimum of 4 years of B2C or B2B2C lifecycle marketing experience, ideally in some of the following industries:
    • Media & entertainment (i.e. Spotify, Netflix, Instagram)
    • Healthcare (i.e. Betterhelp, Teladoc, GoodRx)
    • E-commerce / DTC (i.e. Amazon, Gilt, Shopify-based retailers)
    • Subscription-based Consumer Apps (i.e. Duolingo, Headspace)
    • Real-money gaming (i.e. DraftKings, BetMGM)
  • Experience in a client facing or advisory capacity, whether through consulting or in-house environments. Agency experience is welcome, but not required.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following customer engagement platforms: Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, or Klaviyo
  • Strong writing and speaking skills, with the confidence to present complex ideas simply to both business and technical audiences
  • Comfort reading and editing HTML/CSS, Liquid, Handlebars, and JSON. And knowing when to leverage GenAI to author, debug, and QA code.
  • Real analytical ability: You can interpret performance data, build a point of view from it, and defend that point of view

How You Work

  • Self-sufficient and resourceful, with a genuine learner's mindset.  You research what you don't know rather than waiting to be told, or moving forward without asking for help. You have a strong track-record of, and a process for building up new skills to mastery.
  • Structured and organized, with documentation discipline and a habit of triple-checking your data before it reaches a client
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You break complex workstreams into actionable chunks and make informed decisions with incomplete information
  • You context-switch cleanly across multiple clients on any given day/week
  • GenAI-forward mindset: You use AI to fill statistical and technical gaps, understand the methodology well enough to explain it, and always spot-check the data behind an AI-generated insight
  • You obsess a little over details, and you proactively dig into platform features, documentation, webinars, and certifications because you find it genuinely interesting

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Grohaus is unable to provide visa sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
  • Must be located in the New York City metro area (within a 1-2 hour commute to midtown Manhattan) to meet the hybrid in-office requirement.
  • Must be able to complete Form I-9 employment eligibility verification within three business days of your start date.

We're a young, ambitious boutique marketing agency; not a big corporate machine filled with red tape and decision roadblocks. If you want to help build a new agency from the ground up, this is your chance for a front row seat.

You'll go deeper on the platform landscape than most in-house marketers ever get to, get your certifications paid for, and lean hard into applying GenAI in lifecycle marketing.

Agency life is fluid. Clients come and go, priorities shift, and you'll trade a slow-changing roadmaps for novelty and fast vertical growth. If this sounds like where you want to be, let's talk.
