Lifeguard-Swim Assistant JobID: 4172 Position Type: Hourly/Community Education SwimDate Posted: 11/2/2026Location: District WideDistrict: Grosse Pointe Public Schools Additional Information: Show/HideJob Summary:Serve as lifeguard and swim assistant for Community Education swim programs.Supervise open and lap swims, providing in-water assistance to swimmers as required.Assist the head swim instructor with lesson execution, including working directly in the water with participants.Maintain a safe pool deck and consistently enforce facility safety rules.Operate the ADA pool lift and accessible equipment as needed.Respond promptly to emergencies using appropriate First Aid, CPR, and AED protocols. Qualifications:Required: Current American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and AED.Preferred: Prior experience as a lifeguard or swim assistant (not required).Skills: Ability to effectively operate pool rescue equipment and ADA lifts.Interpersonal: Strong communication skills to interact positively with swimmers, parents, instructors, and staff. Compensation & Working Conditions: Pay Rate: $12.50/hour (commensurate with experience). Additional $1.00/hour for Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.Hours: Variable / Flexible.
