    Job Title: Linux / Android HAL / VHAL Senior Developer

    Location: Detroit, MI

    Job Summary

    We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Developer with strong expertise in Embedded Linux, Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), and Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL). The ideal candidate will have experience developing software for Android Automotive platforms and integrating vehicle hardware with Android through HAL and VHAL frameworks.

    This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software solutions that enable communication between Android Automotive OS and vehicle hardware components such as climate control, battery management, vehicle speed, and other automotive systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software solutions for Linux-based automotive platforms.
    • Develop and enhance Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) components.
    • Develop and maintain Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL) interfaces for Android Automotive OS.
    • Integrate Android Automotive with vehicle ECUs and hardware modules.
    • Implement communication between Android Automotive and vehicle functions, including climate control, speed, battery status, and other vehicle signals.
    • Collaborate with system architects, hardware engineers, and application teams to deliver high-quality embedded software.
    • Debug and troubleshoot software issues across embedded Linux and Android platforms.
    • Optimize system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
    • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and system validation.
    • Create technical documentation and support software release activities.

    Required Qualifications

    • Strong experience with Embedded Linux development.
    • Hands-on experience with Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL).
    • Experience developing Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL) for Android Automotive.
    • Strong C/C++ programming skills.
    • Experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
    • Knowledge of Linux device drivers and system programming.
    • Experience integrating software with automotive hardware and ECUs.
    • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience working in Agile development environments.
