This role is for a Litigation Assistant supporting 2 attorneys in a busy insurance defense litigation practice. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who can work independently, manage a high-volume litigation desk, and immediately contribute with minimal training.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide litigation support for 2 attorneys handling approximately 30-40 cases each.
- Manage court calendaring, deadlines, and litigation procedures.
- Prepare, file, and serve legal documents with courts.
- Assist with trial preparation and ongoing case management.
- Coordinate filings, scheduling, and document organization throughout the litigation lifecycle.
- Utilize legal technology tools, document management systems, and workflow software.
Required Qualifications
- Strong background in civil litigation, including:
- Court filings
- Calendaring and deadline management
- Knowledge of litigation procedures
- Trial preparation support
- Previous insurance defense litigation experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced technology skills, including:
- Document management systems (Worldox preferred)
- Microsoft Word macros
- Legal calendaring software (Orian preferred)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, trial-focused environment.
- Senior-level experience with the capability to "hit the ground running."
Preferred Qualifications
- Trial experience in a high-volume litigation firm.
- Paralegal certificate (not required but considered a plus).
- Demonstrated job stability and longevity, which is a key hiring factor.
