Litigation Associate Attorney

Office Location: Rochester, NY

Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000

Are you a seasoned litigator ready to work with a team of highly skilled legal professionals? Underberg & Kessler LLP is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 4-7 years of experience to join our Rochester office. In this elevated role, you will take the lead on sophisticated commercial and civil litigation matters and support marital and family law matters, while helping grow the litigation practice through client strategy and leadership.

Position Overview:

Primarily handles general civil litigation and commercial law matters, while also supporting marital and family law matters representing clients in court, arbitration and mediation. Will draft motions, manage discovery, and take a hands-on role in developing legal strategies alongside partners and senior attorneys.

Position Responsibilities:

• Handle a diverse caseload involving primarily general civil and commercial litigation matters.
• Assist with all phases of litigation, including case assessment, discovery, motion practice, depositions, court appearances, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery demands and responses, correspondence, settlement documents, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and develop effective litigation strategies.
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other professionals.
• Work closely with partners and senior attorneys on complex and significant matters.
• Provide support on marital and family law matters, including legal research, motion practice, discovery, negotiations, and other litigation-related responsibilities.
• Manage assigned matters efficiently and meet deadlines and client expectations.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and contribute to the Firm's commitment to providing responsive, high-quality legal services.
• Participate in Firm activities, professional development, and business-development initiatives.

Qualifications:

• 4-7 years of experience in litigation with a demonstrated ability to manage cases independently
• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York State
• Strong command of litigation strategy, negotiation, and courtroom procedure
• Proven experience with general civil and/or commercial litigation
• Excellent written and verbal advocacy skills
• Ability to manage multiple mattes and priorities effectively
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing as part of a collaborative team
• Experience in family law, or labor & employment law is a plus
