A bit about us:
We are a litigation-focused law firm that represents businesses, professionals, and organizations in a wide range of disputes and risk-management matters. Our attorneys work closely with clients through every stage of the litigation process, from early case assessment through resolution, trial, and appeal when necessary. We believe effective advocacy comes from thorough preparation, practical judgment, and strong collaboration. Our team values professionalism, responsiveness, and continuous development, creating an environment where attorneys can take ownership of their work, expand their skill sets, and build long-term careers alongside experienced litigators.
Why join us?
We offer attorneys the opportunity to gain meaningful litigation experience in a supportive and collaborative environment. Our lawyers are trusted with substantive responsibilities, direct client interaction, and active participation in case strategy and advocacy, providing valuable opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
We also understand that flexibility matters. After onboarding, we typically ask attorneys to be in the office just two days per week, while providing the option to work in person more often for those who prefer additional collaboration and mentorship. This approach allows our team to maintain strong professional connections without sacrificing flexibility.
In addition to a hybrid schedule, we offer competitive compensation, performance-based bonus opportunities, comprehensive benefits, retirement contributions, mentorship from experienced attorneys, and a culture that supports both professional development and long-term career success.
Job Details
We are seeking a Litigation Associate to join our civil defense practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with at least one year of litigation experience who wants meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and regular exposure to all phases of the litigation process.
Our practice includes a variety of complex defense matters, with a significant portion of our work involving professional liability, healthcare-related disputes, insurance defense, and other civil litigation matters. Prior experience in those areas is helpful but not required. We are equally interested in attorneys who have developed a solid litigation foundation and are looking to expand their experience in a collaborative environment.
This is not a role where attorneys are limited to research and drafting. We encourage active participation in case strategy, client communication, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation from an early stage.
Responsibilities
Manage civil litigation matters from assignment through resolution
Analyze claims, develop case strategy, and evaluate risk exposure
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and other litigation-related filings
Conduct legal research and prepare written advocacy materials
Participate in depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation
Communicate directly with clients regarding case developments and strategy
Work with experts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and courts throughout the litigation process
Collaborate with attorneys across multiple matters while maintaining ownership of assigned cases
Maintain case deadlines, budgets, and litigation plans in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
At least 1 year of litigation experience in a law firm environment
Experience handling civil litigation matters from multiple stages of a case
Medical malpractice, healthcare liability, professional liability, or insurance defense experience is preferred but not required
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Experience drafting motions, discovery, and other substantive litigation documents
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Interest in developing trial and courtroom advocacy skills
Requirements
Active WA bar admission in good standing
Minimum of 1 year of civil litigation experience
Ability to manage deadlines and maintain a professional client-service mindset
Proficiency with legal research platforms and standard litigation technology
Willingness to work in a hybrid environment, with attorneys generally expected to be in the office two days per week following onboarding and acclimation
Ability to thrive in an active litigation practice with regular client contact and case responsibility
