### About the Opportunity

An established Northern Virginia law firm is seeking a motivated Litigation Attorney to join its civil litigation practice. This is an opportunity for an attorney who enjoys developing case strategy, conducting legal research, drafting persuasive motions and briefs, and representing clients in contested matters.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer and analytical thinker who takes initiative, exercises sound judgment, and is interested in developing meaningful litigation and client-management experience.

### Responsibilities

• Handle civil litigation matters from initial assessment through discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and analyze applicable statutes, regulations, procedural rules, and case law.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and other proceedings.
• Develop litigation strategies in collaboration with colleagues and clients.
• Communicate with clients regarding case developments, legal risks, available options, and recommended courses of action.
• Coordinate with opposing counsel, expert witnesses, and other professionals as needed.
• Manage multiple matters, deadlines, and competing priorities while maintaining high standards of work product and client service.

### Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the Virginia State Bar and good standing.
• Experience handling civil litigation matters in a law firm, government, or comparable legal setting.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Professional judgment, initiative, and a commitment to client service.

### Preferred Qualifications

• Approximately 3–7 years of relevant litigation experience, although candidates at other experience levels may be considered.
• Experience with depositions, discovery, dispositive motions, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Experience in commercial litigation, business disputes, employment litigation, professional liability, insurance defense, or another relevant civil litigation practice.
• Prior clerkship experience or demonstrated courtroom advocacy.
