JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client, a well-regarded Phoenix law firm, is looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team.
Litigation Legal Assistant
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, edit, format, proofread, and file correspondence, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Manage electronic and physical files, including client and court records.
- Coordinate attorney calendars, litigation deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and meetings.
- Perform State and Federal electronic court filings and maintain accurate docket information.
- Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, courts, vendors, and outside agencies.
- Assist attorneys and paralegals with case management, research, document preparation, and administrative tasks.
- Maintain knowledge of active matters, case status, deadlines, and upcoming projects.
- Prepare expense reports, reimbursement requests, billing materials, and settlement documentation.
- Assist with new client and new matter intake and administrative processes.
- Provide timely responses to inquiries and support attorneys and team members as needed.
- Handle confidential, complex, and time-sensitive information with discretion.
- Provide backup assistance and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive experience as an Arizona legal secretary or litigation legal assistant.
- Experience with State and Federal electronic court filing systems required.
- Knowledge of Arizona and Federal court rules and procedures required; plaintiff-side litigation experience strongly preferred.
- Multi-state legal experience, including California, is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, standard office equipment, document management, and electronic filing systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, proofreading, typing, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines, multitask, solve problems, exercise sound judgment, and work independently.
- Strong client-service mindset and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Professional, reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
