Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Litigation Paralegal for a highly respected civil litigation law firm serving clients throughout the Puget Sound region. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Tacoma, Washington.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to manage civil litigation matters from inception through settlement or trial. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys on sophisticated litigation, including medical malpractice and insurance defense matters, while providing substantive case management, discovery, trial preparation, and client support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage civil litigation matters from case inception through settlement or trial, including calendaring, case management, and litigation support

  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, discovery requests and responses, authorizations, stipulations, and other legal documents

  • Review, organize, summarize, and prepare chronologies of complex medical records while coordinating record retrieval and HIPAA-compliant documentation

  • Manage the discovery process, conduct legal, medical, expert witness, and jury verdict research, and provide regular case status updates to attorneys

  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and medical providers while coordinating depositions, deadlines, and litigation activities

  • Assist with trial preparation, deposition preparation, exhibit organization, and other substantive litigation support throughout the life of each case

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience supporting civil litigation matters; medical malpractice or insurance defense experience strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Washington state court rules, civil litigation procedures, discovery, and trial preparation

  • Experience reviewing medical records, preparing case summaries, and managing complex litigation files

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience billing attorney time and knowledge of HIPAA guidelines is preferred

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
