Location: Richmond, North Yorkshire 

We are looking for a Refuse/Recycling Loader to join our depot in Richmond, North Yorkshire.

You will be covering a significant rural area with picturesque towns and villages.

The Role

Working in small crews in your dedicated area of the county, you will be collecting residual waste, garden waste or recyclable materials from domestic properties.

The role is very physical and so, you will have to be able to walk long distances, move bags, wheelie bins and recycling bins and boxes, and use a lifting mechanism to tip the waste into the lorry.

Health and safety is also critical to ensure your team and residents are safe, including supporting your driver to help them navigate the streets of North Yorkshire safely.        

The role is a hugely important one. You will be at the forefront of a key service in North Yorkshire Council and therefore, as required, you need to be prepared to start early, be flexible and work weekends, where applicable.       

Roles and Responsibilities:

•        Collection and emptying of receptacles.     
•        Removing spillages, checking of service lists and reporting instances outside of acceptable presentation.   
•        To support the driver in undertaking risk assessments.
•        Assisting the driver, ensuring manoeuvres are completed safely and mitigate the risk to pedestrians and other road users.
•        Responsible for the health and safety of self and colleagues, ensuring that all safe working practices are followed.

You will also be trained in street cleansing duties to meet operational needs.        

Shifts are currently 4 days per week, Tuesday - Friday, and may incorporate weekend work, in line with service needs. Usual working hours are 06:15 - 16:15.
