Registered Nurse (RN) – Immunization Nurse (Vaccination Initiative)

Location: Solvang, CA 93463
Contract Duration: September 20, 2026 – October 3, 2026
Position Type: Contract | Part-Time
Schedule: Approximately 20 Hours/Week
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
Shift: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Setting: Retail Pharmacy / Community Healthcare Clinic
 

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to support a community immunization initiative. In this patient-facing role, you will administer a variety of vaccines, educate patients on preventive healthcare, and ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality clinical care in a retail healthcare setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who enjoy working directly with the community and promoting public health through vaccination services.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer a broad range of vaccines, including:
    • Influenza (Flu)
    • COVID-19
    • MMR
    • Hepatitis A & B
    • Tdap
    • Shingles
    • Pneumococcal
    • HPV
    • RSV
    • Other recommended immunizations
  • Perform patient assessments prior to vaccine administration.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately.
  • Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, potential side effects, and follow-up care.
  • Accurately document vaccinations and maintain patient records.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, medication administration, and patient safety standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and clinic support staff.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining professionalism.
  • Adapt to changing patient volumes and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience, including immunization administration and direct patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative healthcare team.
  • Must not appear on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
  • High School Diploma or GED (verification required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in immunization clinics, retail health, ambulatory care, occupational health, or public health settings.
  • Previous experience administering high-volume vaccination programs.
  • Strong patient education and customer service skills.
  • Experience caring for patients across diverse age groups.
