Long-Term Sub - School Counselor

Sandwich Middle High School seeks qualified applicants for an anticipated LTS - School Counselor position for grades 7 & 8 during the 2026-2027 school year.

A school counselor works to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all.

Qualifications:

• DESE Certification required.
• Have experience and passion for working with students
• Have the ability and initiative to work independently and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team including school educators, specialists, administrators, family and community partners and possess strong counseling/clinical skills and a passion for continued learning and professional development.

As a School Counselor, you will help all students:

• Apply academic achievement strategies
• Manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills
• Plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, workforce)

Active duties include, but are not limited to:

• Individual student academic planning and goal setting
• School counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards
• Short-term counseling to students
• Referrals for long-term support
• Collaboration with families/teachers/administrators/community for student success
• Advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings
• Data analysis to identify student issues, needs, and challenges
• Acting as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students

LTS Pay Rate for FY27: BA Step 1 =$331.24 per day. For additional information, please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the Sandwich website.
