Low Voltage Technician

Job Summary

The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing low voltage systems such as cameras, wireless access points, data, voice, security, fire alarm, access control, and audiovisual systems. The technician ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, and label low voltage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, coaxial, fiber optic, etc.)
• Install and service systems include:
  • Structured cabling (voice and data)
  • CCTV and video surveillance
  • Access control and card readers
  • Audio/visual and intercom systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Troubleshoot system issues and perform repairs as needed
• Test systems for performance and functionality using appropriate tools
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical and safety codes
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations and service work
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and team members
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe work environment

Qualifications

• Position located in Omaha, Nebraska
• Local and distant travel required.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in low voltage or related field (experience level may vary)
• Strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of low voltage systems, cabling standards, and installation practices
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems and devices
• Knowledge of door access/controls systems
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently.
• Company vehicle provided.
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Certifications (not required but a plus)

• BICSI Technician or Installer certification
• OSHA 10 Construction
• Fire alarm certification/license

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift to 50 lbs
• Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
• Ability to stand, bend, and work with hands for extended periods

Work Environment

• Commercial and/or industrial job sites
• Indoor and outdoor work environments
• Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required
