Overview
R&P is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the U.S. Navy''s LPD 17 Shipbuilding Program (PMS 377) in Pascagoula, MS, for Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) and Mission Systems. Areas of support include installation and testing, light off, software installation, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance/repair, systems integration, engineering and technical support for ships at the building yard.

Responsibilities
- Areas of support for HM&E and Mission Systems may include:
- Support on Deck/Mission Systems equipment.
- Support the Test Division in support of ship acquisition, integration and industrial and post-delivery test activities.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, and testing shipboard electrical systems and Interior Communications equipment.
- Support development and review of test procedures and witness equipment and system testing.
- Inspect equipment installations.
- Provide on-site test engineering and technical support for ship industrial testing.
- Establish and maintain an effective liaison with Supervisor of Shipbuilding and with other Navy, Government, and Contractor activities as required.
- Participate in at sea trials at other locations such as Norfolk VA, San Diego CA, Mayport FL, Pearl Harbor HI and Sasebo Japan.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement: High School diploma or GED plus at least 5-10+ years of relevant work experience.
- Associates degree in engineering discipline is preferred but not required.
- Active Secret Clearance or eligible to obtain one.
- DoD/Navy ACAT I Program and Amphibious Assault Ship Class Platform experience is a plus.
- Experience with Deck System is preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive bending, stretching, twisting, and reaching for extended periods (up to 8 hours) without undue fatigue.
- Capacity to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds (or as specified by the employer) with or without assistance, and to move heavy materials and equipment safely.
- Muscular strength and endurance to support the body for long periods without fatigue, including using core and lower back muscles to maintain balance and posture.
