ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs, completes, and validates assessments, with particular attention to nutritional status, vital signs, and eating disorder symptomsAdministers and documents vital signs, BMI calculations, nutritional intake, meal monitoring, fall assessments/precautions, suicidal/homicidal assessments, nutritional assessments, pain scales, anxiety scales, standard and infection control precautions
Assesses clients with eating disorders and mental health conditions, and assists in ascertaining medication management with other Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Physicians
Monitors and documents bathroom visits, meal completion, supplement intake, and nutritional compliance
Participates in therapeutic meal support and documentation
Collaborates with the dietary team to ensure proper implementation of prescribed meal plans
Monitors for medical complications related to eating disorders
Documents weight measurements according to facility protocol. Provides direct client care to a diversified population, across a continuum of care
Collaborates with staff in assessing client needs and creating and implementing a nursing plan of care
Aids Utilization Review in communicating pertinent nursing information
Designs and teaches programs for clients/families and aids staff in program implementation
Works closely with physicians to provide education and counseling for clients and other organizational health care providers on optimal use of medicines (e.g., proper use, avoidance of over medication)
Provides nursing care adapted to the individual client's needs based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
Reports observed changes in mental status and/or physical condition
Documents and reports incidents, includingmedication errors
Oversees the medication management system that includes but is not limited to; medication planning, storage, ordering, transcribing, administering, monitoring, and evaluating.
Manages the Medication Administration Record, documenting administration, efficacy, and medication responses
Verifies the integrity of medications brought into the organization by clients and their families
Uses the utmost of care in protecting the confidentiality of client records in accordance with state and federal laws
Understands and adheres to all Eating Disorder Treatment Centers' Policies and Procedures
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal and stateregulations, laws, and Eating Disorder Treatment Centers' policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified
Works within the scope of practice as determined by licensing board and performs other duties and tasks as appropriate
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS - Education, Training, and Experience Required:
• Licensed Practical Nurse licensure from the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners as required by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners or from another recognized state board if has a multistate license
• Completion of required continuing education hours as specified by Louisiana regulations and state board
• Preferred: Experience as a staff nurse in eating disorder treatment, behavioral health, or other residential setting
