Summary:

Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Medical Surgical Unit. In this role, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support patients with a wide range of medical conditions, treatments, and recovery needs.

The LPN plays an essential role in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while promoting positive patient outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

Provides direct patient care in the acute care setting of the emergency department or inpatient area utilizing various nursing skills and established standards of care at the direction of a registered nurse.

Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 0.90 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 12 Hour Days (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care within the scope of practice of a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Monitor patients and report changes in condition, concerns, or clinical findings to the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed and in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies.
  • Collect and document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, comfort, and independence.
  • Support patient education and reinforce instructions related to treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards.
  • Participate in unit-based initiatives and ongoing professional development activities.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of New Mexico or out of state compact LPN license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Arrythmia (BCA) for areas with cardiac telemetry monitoring required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Preferred

  • One (1) year of nursing experience in a medical-surgical, acute care, or hospital setting.
  • Experience caring for adult medical and post-acute patients.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • IV certification, where applicable.
