Position Title: LTS Elementary Music PreK-5

Brief Description: The Ithaca City School District (ICSD) is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and reflective educator for a 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Long-Term Substitute (LTS) Music Teacher position. This itinerant role serves elementary students across grades K-5, delivering general classroom music and vocal instruction. The ideal candidate will celebrate student identities through music and culture, maintaining an active commitment to anti-racist, culturally responsive, and inclusive pedagogy.

Key Responsibilities

? Deliver engaging, foundational general music and vocal instruction to elementary students (PreK-5) with a focus on music literacy, appreciation, and cultural history.

? Introduce healthy vocal techniques, basic musicianship skills, music reading, music terminology, and identification of musical symbols.

? Foster joy, confidence, and community through group singing and instrumental performances for caregivers, peers, and the wider school community.

? Utilize inclusive and differentiated instructional approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, and backgrounds.

? Actively participate in departmental Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) at the school and district levels to align instruction with district goals and missions.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Teacher Certification in K-12 Music (or eligibility for reciprocity/qualification prior to the first day of employment).

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field.

• Proficient piano skills to support vocal and classroom instruction. Desired Characteristics

Salary Range: $56,918-$119,338 (10-month full-time basis) Based on the 26-27 ITA step and lane salary grid
