Golden Plains Community Hospital is currently seeking a full-time LVN for the Med/Surg department. Hours and days may vary.
Position Qualifications:
- Graduate of a school or vocational nursing program, required. Can start orientation when the GVN is online through the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Current Texas License to practice vocational nursing, required.
- BLS is required by the first day of employment. ACLS and PALS are required within three months of employment.
- Must be IV Certified
- One or more years of Acute Care experience as an LVN preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
- Vital Sign Management: Monitor, record, and report vital signs, recognizing and immediately escalating deviations from baseline parameters.
- Patient Assessments: Perform focused physical assessments and contribute data to the RN's comprehensive nursing assessment.
- Continuous Monitoring: Assist in tracking cardiac telemetry, oxygen saturation, and fluid balance (intake/output), especially for critical Med-Surg or stabilized ICU patients.
- ADLs and Comfort: Provide total patient care, including bathing, feeding, grooming, positioning, and turning immobile patients to prevent pressure ulcers.
- Medication Delivery: Administer oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intradermal medications according to physician orders and institutional policy.
- IV Therapy Support: Monitor existing intravenous lines, change dressings, and administer approved peripheral IV fluids or medications (dependent on state-specific LVN IV certification and hospital policy; typically restricted from administering high-alert ICU titratable drips).
- Blood Product Monitoring: Assist the RN in verifying patient identity for blood transfusions and monitor the patient for adverse reactions during the infusion.
