• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $49.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night Shift, 3x12 Hours, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM; Every Other Weekend required; Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed

Job Summary

This is a Medical Surgical LPN/LVN travel contract role (Units 5400/5500) based at a 528-bed acute care teaching facility in Rochester, NY. The Medical Surgical unit serves patients with COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues, with a staffing ratio of 1:5 6 on days. The LPN will take their own patient assignment with the support of an RN.

Key Responsibilities

• Take own patient assignment with the support of an RN
• Perform vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, and physical restraints
• Specimen labeling, oxygen administration via nasal cannula, and feeding tube management
• Telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG
• Medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops)
• IV therapy with pumps and blood glucose monitoring
• Wound care basics including simple dressings and JP/Hemovac drains
• Bathing and mouth care
• Foley catheter insertion (male/female) and clean catch urine collection
• Communication of status changes to RN/MD in a MS/Tele care setting
• Float within skillset as required

Required Skills

• Acute Care experience within the last 2 years
• EPIC charting experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG
• Proficiency in IV therapy with pumps and medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops)
• Wound care basics (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains)
• Foley catheter insertion (male/female)
• Blood glucose monitoring
• Ability to work in a MS/Tele care setting

Education Requirements

• Active New York Single State LPN license required (NY is not a Compact state; pending license not accepted)
• BLS certification required

Required Experience

• Acute Care experience within the last 2 years required
• Must be able to take own patient assignment with the support of an RN

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift: 3x12 Hours, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• Will be required to float within skillset
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy blue and white
• The client may cancel (call off) up to three shifts during a 13-week contract period without incurring charges for the canceled hours
• Patient ratio: Days 1:5 6
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted for LPNs (see recruiter for rate details)
• RTO/Block & Special Scheduling Requests: Must submit requests upon submission
